My New Year’s resolution for the photoblog is to spend more time editing and posting photos whenever I can (I was too occupied with other stuff last year that I didn’t get to edit much photos towards the end of last year). Hope I can do it!

Happy New Year everyone!

Happy New Year with a review of 2008!

I’ve been looking for speakers to replace my original ones that were just generic ones and sounds pretty muffled, and one that fits the bill since I use it mainly for music and movies. Originally I was looking at a 5.1 setup in my room, but after finding out that in order to use them with my laptop I would need to buy an extra PCI Express card, I quickly gave up on that. Then I looked at some 2.1 speakers, but some reviews weren’t as good for them.

Last week Futureshop had a sale on the Creative GigaWorks T20 for $64.99 with an original price of $129.99. Many reviews online spoke highly of these speakers even though they were only 2.0 with no subwoofer. I found that Best Buy had these selling at $127.99, and that they were sold out in all of the Vancouver or Richmond locations, the only one that carried it was in Burnaby (Price Match!). The next day I headed over to the Best Buy in Burnaby and successfully bought these for $65 including tax with price matching!

I have to say these are pretty good with good bass and low distortion at when turned up high :-)

It was quite a cold day. After staying indoors the entire morning and deciding with Alex whether or not to head out or not, I decided I couldn’t waste the entire day rotting at home! Usually after a snowy day I usually head out to the nearest neighbouring park, Queen Elizabeth, but it was pretty much the same scene. After lunch, me and my dad decides the camera comes out, and Jericho, here we come! As we got nearer, the sun shone through the clouds and lit up the mountain slopes, perfect timing I must say!

The day after Vancouver’s first snow of the season, the mountains to the north were covered in a white blank of snow. Spectacular!

I took lots of photos so didn’t really post-process so here are most of the photos (click read more)!

Weather warning calls for 5-10cm of snow, we might be getting more of it by tomorrow!

Granville street was a zoo, buses parked on the side, cars (mainly rear wheel drives) battling uphill, but in the middle of all this, people still stepped out of their cars to help each other push others’ cars. Took us nearly an hour to go what would usually take us 10 minutes by car. Thank goodness Frank had snow tires on :-)

Wherever you’re heading, be safe! (or stay home!)

So this was first of many cars on the way that piled up traffic…
