Foreword

The UBC Taiwan Association was established by the first president, Mr. Yuan-Xing Peng in 1990. In the past decade, UBCTA has become the largest Taiwanese student organization in Canada. What has not changed is our devotion to serving Taiwanese students.

Organizational Culture

In UBCTA, volunteers cooperate like family in learning the operations and contributing opinions in order to steer the organization towards the best possible direction. It is in our best interest to serve our members and make them feel at home. We provide information about campus life and courses, as well as other networking events to provide our members a chance to enjoy a well-balanced student life at UBC. Through our large membership database and contacts, our networks extend from Vancouver to all over the world. Utilizing our bilingual (Mandarin and English) skills, we strive to promote Taiwanese history, multiculturalism, food, and life, in order to make Taiwanese culture well-known in North America.

Event Details

Our events have all been tailored to our members' needs. In the past, we have held events such as Student Orientations and Summer Trip to help new students adapt to university life. Our events also include Ice Breaker, skating night, movie night, barbecues, Taiwanese dialect seminar, money management seminar, success workshop, Skip Trip, and a variety of dances and alot more. These events allow our members to relax during the busy school year and network with friends from similar backgrounds.

Finale

Other than serving our members, the goals of UBCTA are to promote Taiwanese culture and maintain positive relationships with other organizations, such as the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vancouver, and other overseas Chinese business associations. We always welcome new members to join and experience our passion, make new friends, and enjoy their university experience.
